It’s no secret that a lot of us spend a lot of time scrolling through on social feeds. My poison of choice is Instagram.
Consider your phone or your social feed like your alternate life. It’s like a whole other world you are a resident of along with your real life.
But what really sets it apart from your real life is that you have 100% control over it. Like every single aspect.
Since your mind is exposed to this alternate world of Instagram and other social media platforms from the moment you wake up to the time you decide to go to sleep, it becomes important to curate a positive feed.

What is a Positive Social Feed?
A positive social feed is the feed of any social media platform that has been specially curated to only show accounts that make you happy and provide information you wish to know.
How to Build a Positive Social Feed / How to Create a Positive Social Feed
- Go through the Following tab on your profile
- Unfollow anyone or any account that doesn’t bring you joy, information or inspiration
- Go to the discover page
- Search for keywords of accounts you would like to follow
- Do a clean up every three months
1.Go through the Following tab on your profile
Click the following button on your profile page and go through all the accounts that you are following.
Focus on five emotions: Happy, Inspired, Valuable, Angry and Sad
If a glance is not enough to tell you which of the five emotions you are feeling, take a look at their profile thoroughly.
2. Unfollow anyone or any account that doesn’t bring you joy, information or inspiration
Keep following accounts that make you feel happy, inspired, and add value to your life. Meme accounts count as happy accounts guys.
Unfollow all the accounts that make you feel angry, sad or even jealous.
Now I understand there may be certain ‘friends’ accounts that may make you feel angry, sad or jealous. There are two ways to tackle this without letting them know:
- Whenever you feel sad or angry about it,try to see the positive in the situation. When you feel jealous, try to feel happy for them.
- Or just mute their accounts, they will never know that you did that.
We have got to protect our mental health you guys. Take all the necessary precautions.
3. Go to the discover page
It’s that little magnifying class or navigator symbol on your social media platforms. Go there and discover the world of accounts not yet followed.
The best part about social media platforms there are endless accounts on similar topics. If you don’t like one account’s messaging or style you can always check out the other.
4. Search for keywords of accounts you would like to follow
Possible keywords include:
- Self care
- Self love
- Mental health
- Coronavirus news
- Tik Toks
Literally anything you are interested in, I am sure there is an existing social media account about it.
Follow new and positive accounts to ensure that looking at your feed makes you feel happy and inspired.
5. Do a clean up every three months
It’s very easy to get carried away by social media and end up following random accounts because other people are following it or that it felt right in the moment. But we often don’t track how the accounts make us feel over time.
For this, I suggest that you through your following list every three months and unfollow any accounts that don’t make you feel good anymore.
