From the way I see it, inviting Rachel Hollis into your home or personal library, is one of the best decisions you could ever make.

If you feel like you are stuck in a rut, can’t figure out what you need to do next and need some clarity in your life, Rachel is your girl.

But I must warn you if you think self-help books are phony and all of them say the same thing, then this book is not for you. Do not even look at it.

It took me about a week to finish this book. It is super easy to read and is written in extremely impersonal language. It’s basically like getting a 200-page hype speech from your best friend.

If you haven’t read it yet, you can purchase Girl, Stop Apologizing from Amazon. You could either order the book or read it on kindle. Both versions can be purchased here.

Rachel Hollis has made it her life’s mission to lift other women up and empower them to follow their dreams and believe in themselves.

And she does just that with her six books, YouTube channel, conventions, speeches, and Instagram posts.

If you need a personal cheerleader, whose every word intentionally calls on you to take action, Rachel is that cheerleader.

She is friendly, personal, and the combination of your hyperactive fitness buddy and your girlfriend you would like to have over for wine nights.

There were some really impactful lines in the book that really changed my perspective on a couple of things.

I do not wish to spoil the book for anyone who wants to read it, so I will not be giving a synopsis because it’s not really a fictional book that you can summarize.

In a nutshell, though, this is what her book covers:

-Every possible excuse you could have for not  following your dream

-What are the habits you need to inculcate to set you up for success

-And the skills you absolutely need to have to achieve your dream

Now I ask you to please take her words with a grain of salt because it’s not possible to do every single thing she asks you to do. Pick and choose what suits you and create your own life.

Girl, Stop Apologizing Book Review

One of my favourite thoughts from the book was her request to ask us to embrace the idea that it is totally okay to want things for ourselves. Women are often made to feel guilty about doing things for themselves and this is not serving us anymore.

The longer women wait to follow their dreams, the longer they are telling themselves that they are not important.

It is no surprise that people raised in privilege and advantageous circumstances tend to be more successful. It is because from a young age they are made to see possibilities and opportunities in every situation, they see action being taken with regards to these opportunities and they are constantly reassured of their capabilities.

When you have all that, you tend to believe anything is possible, and that is all you need to believe.

The female community needs to stop living in the fear of having their dreams judged by others or being judged for having dreams in the first place. People see you for who they are and not as you are. When you step outside their level of comprehension you shock them, and which is why they tend to question and make fun of your decisions.

Personal growth is supposed to be personal

If holding on to your past is affecting you negatively then it is not helping you. Don’t let anyone tell you how to feel, pick, and choose ideas and thoughts that make you feel good.

If you actively take steps towards personal growth and your goals and intentionally begin to live without obsessing over what other people think, it will be the most freeing decision of your life.

Ambition is not a dirty word

Embrace your ambition. Embrace your failures, Embrace your struggles. The only way to succeed is to do certain things over and over again. It may seem like it’s not bearing any fruit right now but it will.

People believe goals are temporary

Believing your dreams are goals, are just a past-time, a hobby, a side-job, makes it a side thought. If your dream means that much to you it has to become a part of you, for as long as you can live and breathe.

Time passes, would you rather spend it doing something you love or hate?

And when you do you, it doesn’t hurt or affect others as much as you think it does. In fact, it inspires them to be better

Representation matters

If your world, your life, your stage doesn’t reflect the diversity, cultures, and people that exist in the world around you, there is something wrong. Everybody deserves a chance to shine, and you shouldn’t stand in the way of anyone getting chances.

Favourite Quotes:

I understood the only thing standing between me and my goal was my willingness to find time for it.

Your inexperience doesn’t mean you won’t succeed, it just means that you haven’t succeeded yet.

There are a hundred ways to learn to swim and one very easy way to learn to drown, and that is by being unwilling to admit you are drowning in the first place.

Intensity is not as important as consistency.

Mediocre will always try to drag you back down to mediocre. Lazy will always drag you back down to lazy

You cannot get to where you want to go if you don’t know where you are.

Who you are is defined by the next decision you make not the last one

Don’t you dare compare your beginning to someone else’s middle.

In conclusion, Girl, Stop Apologizing is Rachel Hollis’s Cry or Call To Action (however you see it) for women all over the world to stop worrying about what others will think of them and follow their dreams. It’s a personal manifesto dedicated to women who make themselves smaller and diminish their dreams and desires. It is a humble reminder to women that it is not their job to fit into what someone else’s ideas of who they are supposed to be.
