Whatever happened to predictability?

Well no one is asking that about Fuller House.

All the Full House fans will get that joke.

I watched all the five seasons of the show because I was craving some nostalgia and comfort, and remembered really loving Full House so much.

So if you want to know if you should check out Fuller House all I can say is…

Netflix picked up the Fuller House for a few seasons in 2016.

This is one of the very few shows that managed to retain basically the entire cast. Well everyone except the youngest sister Michelle.

For all of you newbies Michelle was played by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Yes both of the twins, because when the show first started Mary Kate and Ashley were way too young to act for long hours because it would conflict with child labour laws, so they hired both the twins.

Fun Fact: They would actually mentioned Michelle’s name as ‘Mary Kate Ashley Olsen’ as if they were one person in the Full House theme song because they didn’t want the audience to know that Michelle was played by two people.

The new series, Fuller House is about DJ, Stephanie and DJ’s best friend / the Tanner household’s over-friendly neighbour Kimmy Gibbler, who live together at the Tanner house.

DJ lost her husband who was a firefighter and her sister Stephanie, and best friend Kimmy Gibbler moved in with her to help her take care of her three kids.

If you have ever dreamed of moving into your house with your best friends then this show will give you a glimpse of what  it’s like.

Although I have to warn you for anyone who is 18 and above, this show according to Bob Saget who plays Danny Tanner on the show i.e. DJ and Stephanie’s father says that the show is created for “14 year old girls.”

You Should Watch Fuller House…

1. If you miss Disney Channel

The way the show is set up has a Disney Channel vibe to it. If you know or remember Disney Channel shows like Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, Suite Life of Zack & Cody and That’s so Raven, then you will know what I am talking about. The show has elements of slapstick comedy, catchphrases, dance numbers and all the episodes are tied up in a neat little bow in about a little over 20 minutes, leaving us with that warm fuzzy feeling when the credits roll up.

2. If you miss family shows

If you miss good old family shows like Full House, Different Strokes, Family Ties etc, this is a great show to watch. And it is perfectly  safe to watch it with your entire family as well. From your grandparents to your infant children anyone can watch this show.

3. If you want wholesome, non-violent, uncomplicated and feel good content

No cuss words, violence or super erotic scenes. If you want a break from all the dystopian, dark and disturbing plotlines that seem to be making money on Netflix these days, Fuller House is the exact opposite of all that.

4. If you loved Full House

And last but not least, if you miss the Tanner Family, Uncle Jesse and Uncle Joey, you have definitely got to watch the show. Even though the majority of the show revolves around DJ, Stephanie, Kimmy and their kids – Danny, Jesse, Joey and Aunt Becky do pop up a couple of times in each and every single season.

Yes I do understand tha tAunt Becky is currently being investigated and all that, she appeared a few times in the initial seasons and after the court case began, she um… stopped coming by.

And did Danny have more kids, did Uncle Joey start a family? That’s something you will have to watch to find out. I don’t like giving spoilers in my reviews.

I do enjoy dystopian, mysterious and thrilling content like the next guy but sometimes my brain just doesn’t want to watch that stuff anymore.

Fuller House was a great break from all that. And I used to love watching Full House.

I will admit it was a little sad not to see Michelle come back, especially because towards the end of Full House they used to focus on her life a lot.

But the cast constantly refers to Michelle being “too busy running her fashion business” to come see them and that makes it all the more funnier.

I will have to say my favourite moment happens in the middle of the Season 5 where they do this whole dance number that absolutely melted my heart.

Another great thing about the show was how it constantly kept breaking the fourth wall by referencing the cast’s real life.

Some parts of the show were a bit ridiculous and some of the jokes a bit on the nose,  but you have to keep in mind that the show was written for a much younger audience.

So yes, I did enjoy the show. It didn’t keep me hooked, but it was still fun to watch.

Final Thoughts

It’s a wholesome show about 3 best friends living in San Francisco, trying to raise their family, work their jobs and live their best life.

If you want something light and silly to watch, this is a really good one to check out. Although I do recommend you watch Full House first and then watch this. It will give context to a lot of the jokes they make on the show.

It was nice to see them add a more diverse cast in the spinoff with Kimmy’s love interest being a Latin man named Fernando and their daughter’s boyfriend was black.I think the only two times I remember any POC in Full House were even three of Michelle’s friends from school.

The show has five seasons of PG-13 family fun, that I think you can definitely check out if that is something you are into.

Fin.
